Experience OpenAI's GPT Image 2 (ChatGPT Images 2.0) on Cuty.ai — released April 21, 2026 with native reasoning, 2K resolution, near-perfect multilingual text rendering, and up to 8 coherent images per prompt. The first OpenAI image model with built-in thinking. Try it free!
Discover what makes GPT Image 2 exceptional
GPT Image 2 is the first OpenAI image model to bake O-series reasoning directly into the architecture. In Thinking mode, it plans the composition, verifies object counts and prompt constraints, can search the web for real-world references, and self-checks the result before finalizing — dramatically lifting first-attempt success rates for infographics, dense layouts, and brand-accurate scenes.

Text in images is finally legible. GPT Image 2 crosses 99% rendering accuracy on Latin scripts and reliably handles Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Hindi, Bengali, and Arabic — including small text, iconography, UI elements, and dense menus where every previous OpenAI model broke down. No more manual post-processing to fix garbled letters.

Generate at native 2K (up to 2048px on the long edge), with experimental 4K sizes such as 3840×2160 supported. Aspect ratios span 3:1 ultra-wide cinematic to 1:3 ultra-tall portrait, covering banners, slides, posters, app screens, and editorial layouts in real production formats — with no upscaling step required.

In Thinking mode, GPT Image 2 generates up to eight images from a single prompt with consistent characters, object placement, and visual style maintained across the full set. A new primitive for production workflows: complete children's book spreads, multi-scene product campaigns, six-panel comic strips, and storyboard sequences in one generation.

Edit existing images by describing the change — no mask required. Tell GPT Image 2 to "move the coffee cup to the left side of the table" or "change the sky to sunset" and it applies targeted edits while preserving identity-sensitive details like faces, logos, and lighting at high fidelity automatically.

Five-star feedback from designers, marketers, and developers using GPT Image 2 in production.
“Generated five product launch posters in a single session — every headline, price tag, and CTA rendered correctly on the first try. The yellow color cast that haunted DALL-E 3 is finally gone too. White actually looks white now.”
“Used Thinking mode to spin up eight UI variations of an iOS settings screen — same component placement, same icon set, real readable labels in both English and Japanese. What used to take half a day in Figma is now a single prompt.”
“We needed a feature announcement asset in 1:1, 16:9, and 4:5 from one prompt. GPT Image 2 delivered all three with identical product shots, identical typography, identical brand color. Stopped routing weekly launches through the design queue.”
“Generated a six-panel onboarding comic for my game with one prompt — the protagonist's outfit, hair, and weapon stayed consistent across every frame. Couldn't get this out of any model six months ago. Saved me a four-figure illustration commission for a free update.”
“Tested it on a bilingual Japanese-English restaurant menu with brushstroke kanji for the brand name. Nothing was off — kerning, character integrity, layout — all correct on the first generation. The first time I haven't had to clean up CJK assets in Photoshop afterward.”
“Made an OAuth 2.1 flow infographic with arrow labels in English and Spanish. With Thinking mode it checked the spec, structured the layout, and rendered every label correctly. Used to be a half-day in Illustrator. Now it's a paragraph-long prompt.”
Everything you need to know about GPT Image 2
GPT Image 2 is OpenAI's state-of-the-art image generation model, released on April 21, 2026 under the API name gpt-image-2 and shipped in ChatGPT as Images 2.0. It is the direct successor to GPT Image 1.5 and the first OpenAI image model with native reasoning baked in. At launch it took the #1 spot across every Image Arena category with a +242 Elo lead over the nearest competitor.
Thinking mode is GPT Image 2's reasoning layer. Before drawing, the model plans the composition, verifies counts and constraints, can search the web for visual references, and self-checks the output. It is available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. Instant mode — which still includes the 2K resolution and improved text rendering — is free for all ChatGPT users.
GPT Image 2 generates natively up to 2K (2048px on the long edge) and supports experimental 4K sizes such as 3840×2160 landscape and 2160×3840 portrait. It accepts any size that satisfies the constraints — each edge a multiple of 16, total pixels between 655,360 and 8,294,400 — with aspect ratios from 3:1 ultra-wide to 1:3 ultra-tall.
Text rendering is the model's headline upgrade. Accuracy crosses 99% on Latin scripts, with high accuracy across Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Hindi, Bengali, and Arabic. Small text, iconography, UI elements, and dense menus that broke earlier models are now handled reliably on the first attempt — no manual cleanup required.
Yes. With Thinking mode enabled, the API n parameter accepts 1–8 images per prompt, and the model maintains consistent characters, object placement, and visual style across the entire batch. This makes children's book spreads, comic strips, storyboards, and multi-format brand campaigns possible in a single request.
GPT Image 2 is a from-scratch architecture rebuild, not a tuning update. Versus GPT Image 1.5: text accuracy moves from ~70% to 99%+, max resolution from 1K to 2K (with experimental 4K), reasoning is now native, multi-image batching with continuity is new, aspect ratio support expands from a few presets to 3:1–1:3, and natural-language editing without masks is now supported.
No. Unlike GPT Image 1, 1.5, and GPT Image 1 Mini, gpt-image-2 does not currently support transparent backgrounds — requests with background: "transparent" return an error. For cutout assets, use one of the earlier models or run the output through a background remover tool.
